The German Research Foundation has funded our new research unit FOR 2327: „VIROCARB – Glycans Controlling Non-Enveloped Virus Infections“), see our press release. The focus of our research unit are the role of complex carbohydrates in non-enveloped virus infections, particularly noroviruses, papillomaviruses, and polyomaviruses. Our group is particularly interested in the role of glycans in norovirus infection.
VIROCARB consists of eight research groups located in six locations. At the University of Lübeck this involves the Taube Lab (Virology) and the Peters Lab (Chemistry). Other locations include Tübingen, Hamburg, Düsseldorf, Heidelberg, and Münster. Speaker of our research unit is Prof. Stehle (University of Tübingen).
First results of this network will be presented at the 2nd international norovirus meeting “Noroviruses and Beyond – Glycans as Drivers in Viral Infection” www.noro2016.de March 17-19 2016 in Lübeck.
